Yesterday I went to the launch of Realising the Value.
It was an inspiring day, with some great speakers. Alex Fox from Shared Lives Plus was truly inspiring and I agreed with everything he said, including my favourite quote of the day “The NHS needs more money and to help people achieve goals that money cannot buy”.
There was big focus on outcomes, which is really welcome. One of the 10 high impact changes recommended is that system leaders ‘develop a simplified outcomes framework focused on what matters to people’. A second is that we ‘trial new person and community centred outcomes based payment mechanisms and implement them as part of wider national payment reform’.
This is what the Life Improver Score is all about. We are already working with a number of health economies to take this forward, trial the approach and how it can be a mainstream metric that reflects what matters most to people.
I will be making a date to share our findings with the Realising the Value coalition soon!
